about
Our Mission & Appraoch
Our mission is simple: to give Christian couples the tools they need to navigate the challenges of life and build a deeply connected, resilient, and joyful marriage. We combine the best of clinically-proven therapeutic methods with a grace-filled, faith-based perspective to help you rediscover the heart of your relationship and set a new course for your future together.
We've led several of these retreats since 2018, and every year we're thrilled to see the results it produces in the couples who join us!
As trained and specialized marriage therapists, we don't rely on opinions or platitudes. Our curriculum is built on a foundation of empirically-validated therapeutic models, including Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) and the Gottman Method—two of the most respected and effective approaches in modern couples therapy. We then integrate these powerful, research-backed tools into a framework that honors a biblical worldview of marriage, creating a retreat that is both professionally sound and spiritually enriching.
Our Story
For over 15 years, we've had the privilege of walking alongside couples in our professional practice. But our passion for this work isn't just professional—it's personal. We've navigated the same challenges of raising a family, managing our counseling agency, and the busyness of life that can so easily pull a couple apart.
It was through our own journey that we discovered the power of being intentional, the life-changing impact of learning new skills, and the absolute necessity of investing in our marriage. The Marriage Cruise for Christian Couples was born from our desire to create the very thing we knew couples needed: dedicated time away from distraction to focus on each other, have fun together, and learn practical tools in a beautiful, restorative setting.

Our Counseling Practice
The Marriage Cruise for Christian Couples is a signature experience from our full-time counselling practice, Therapevo Counselling Inc. Based in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Therapevo is dedicated to providing professional, compassionate therapy for individuals, couples, and families via Zoom video call across North America. This cruise is an extension of our life's work—taking the powerful tools we use in our private practice and bringing them to you in this unique retreat format.
Both of us have a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy: Caleb's from ACTS Seminary of Trinity Western University, 2019 and Verlynda's from Briercrest Seminary, 2024. We also have each invested in significant post-graduate training in Emotion-Focused Couple's Therapy, one of just a handful of empirically-validate approaches to helping couples. We have been podcasting about marriage and related topics on our show, Normalize therapy., since 2014 and are well versed in couple's conflict along with tougher challenges like betrayal, infidelity, porn and sex addiction, trauma and attachment. Our show has had over 2.5 million downloads and we conservatively estimate that we have impacted over 100,000 marriages through this platform!
Our practice has grown since hiring our first Associate Therapist in 2018 to over 20 highly-qualified, hand-picked Christian therapists. We have an amazing team of beautiful, compassionate and highly skilled therapists.
